New delegate to the Swiss Accreditation Council

Call for Position

actionuni is currently looking for a new delegate to be appointed as a member of the Swiss Accreditation Council (SAC) from January 2027. The SAC is the joint body of the Swiss Confederation and the cantons responsible for accreditation and quality assurance in the Swiss higher education system. The SAC decides on the accreditation of higher education institutions and study programs, ensuring that they meet minimum quality requirements in terms of teaching, research, and services, thereby protecting the interests of students and academic mid-level staff.

As members of the SAC, you will gain insight into the quality management systems of higher education institutions in Switzerland and in Europe.

It is a chance for a comparative experience of the system and a crucial role behind the scenes to improve the situation of the academic mid-level staff in Switzerland. Furthermore, SAC members gain access to a network of higher education experts and managers, providing an interesting insight into their perspectives on the management of higher education institutions of all types.

Main responsibilities

  • Attending the four annual SAC meetings and the Journée de Réflexion. Each of these lasts one day.
  • Meeting preparation requires approximately 4 working days. The documentation is provided two weeks in advance.
  • Eventual participation in specific SAC projects.

Requirements

  • An interest in higher education institutions and higher education policy.
  • Knowledge of the higher education landscape in Switzerland.
  • Fluency in English and as many national languages as possible.
  • A commitment to completing at least one mandate (2027-2031).
  • A solid teaching and teaching evaluation experience is an advantage.
  • Preference will be given to applications from individuals who are currently or have previously been part of the academic mid-level staff in Switzerland.

The delegate receives an allowance of 800 CHF for each meeting attended, and travel expenses are reimbursed.
